Stormstar trotetd along the border, her head held high and her silver tail waving in the air. She glanced around, hoping Luckypaw had followed her. She was coming close to the Nightclan border, they weren't that far away from where all four borders met. She opened her jaws, scenting the crisp air around her.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile...
Dustywing padded along the border. She had recently found out that she was to have kits, and anytime now. She sighed, she didn't know who the father was either. Her and Lionstar ahd been together, and she had met a rogue not too long ago.

The hefty tom managed to trot after her, his breath nearly gone. They were at the NightClan border. With a huff he plopped down onto the ground, taking in a few deep breaths. Scents filled his nose, some good and some bad. There was a scent that he had learned to be NightClan fresh in the air. It wasn't the best scent, and he preferred StreamClan over NightClan any day. His attention landed on Stormstar. "Is everything alright?" He asked, worried that her silence would bring bad news. Luckypaw wasn't one for bad news.

Stormstar didn't answer when she scented them coming close to where the four met. She also scented a cat up ahead.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dustywing felt a sharp pain in her side, and she fell to the ground as her stomach began to ripple.
Later...
Dustywing had given birth to one kit, a mix of tabby and calcio. "Help me!" she wailed.

The silence that came from his mentor was an eerie one. It was obvious that she wasn't tell him something. A wail filled the air, and his pelt stood on end, each little hair prickling with unease. Luckypaw looked around, hoping to find out that all of that noise was nothing but a figment of his imagination. "Did you hear that Stormstar?" He asked, voice quivering with each little word. What if two clans were going at it? What if there were foxes, even worse... badgers? He took in a deep breath, trying to calm himself.

Stormstar sprinted forward. "Hurry, follow me!" she yowled to him, carrying herself as fast as she could. Up ahaead she saw a pale ginger she cat, laying on her side. She rushed to the other cats side. Soemthing ahd gone wrong. She ahd two kits at her side...one still born. She began to stroek the other with her paw, seeing medicine cats do that before. "Luckypaw, go to the Breezeclan camp and get Honeycloud the deputy! Go, no questions asked, now go!" She screeched at him, her voice wavering slightly. The she cat might not make it! She realized with sudden dread.

The tom zoomed after his leader, only to feel his heart drop at the sight. A she-cat with two kins, and only one looked alive. He listened to his leader's words, and stumbled off to BreezeClan camp. He had to find the calico deputy before it was too late. He dodged tree after tree in hopes that his stubby legs would get him there in time. As he reached the entrance he slowed, slowly trotting in, his head poking in to find the deputy. The calico pelt was easy to find. "Honeycloud, there is something urgent! We need you!" He called for her. Luckypaw knew there was no time for questions, so he needed to get her to the she-cat. Without another peep he moved from the entrance, hoping she would follow.
The deputy heard her name being called. Her head turned as she saw a rather plump cat. There was no way he was a clan cat. He must have been. She tinkered over and outside of camp, meeting up with the tom. He soon darted off, and Honeycloud was right behind him, paws carrying her as fast as possible. She slowed down as she saw Stormstar, her eyes going to the figure on the ground. It was Dustywing...

Dustywing let out a yowl of pain, feeling herself come clsoe to death. White light blinded her as pain shook her body again. A familier scent of Honeycloud filled her nostrials. She looked up to see the cat. "Take her..." She emwed warily, glancing down at her only living kit. "Take care of her...it's Lionstar's kit." She mewed, pain overwhelming her again. She shuddered before becoming still as ice. Her amber eyes glazed over, staring ahead at nothing.

Luckypaw watched as the she-cat took on her last few breaths. He looked away, unable to bare the pain that was gnawing at him feverishly. The she-kit that was laying next to her mother belonged to the leader. He wondered how he would take it. He let out a soft sigh, his eyes looking back to the she-cat as she laid there, gazing away at the nothingness that would now surround her. Maybe Luckypaw didn't know her personally, but to see a cat go through so much pain hurt his little heart.
Honeycloud gasped at the she-cat's words. She was supposed to take care of the kit? It was Lionstar's? That's what hurt her the most. Her eyes went back to the apprentice and leader. "Thank you both for getting me. I'm afraid I must hurry and get this kit back to camp." She mewed softly, picking the kit up gingerly in her mouth. The she-cat bowed her head before slowly trotting back to camp, the kit still hanging in her jaws. Honeycloud wouldn't let this kit die, no matter how bad Dustywing was to the deputy, she just didn't have the heart.

Featherkit wriggled and let out a small mewl as she felt a bigger cat pick her up. She thrashed out with tiny legs, trying to be put down, unknowing of the dangers that lurk around and could kill her.
Stormstar nodded, watching the other cat leave with the kit. She would probally send a cat back to get the body of the mother and dead kit. "Let's go Luckypaw." She mewed solemnly, her words felt hollow.

Luckypaw listened to the words of his mentor and leader. It seemed like this was something hard for her. He looked back to the body, bowing his head as he soon trotted off. He didn't want to be around the dead anymore. It made him feel sick. For all the food he could eat, death was a weakness. It gnawed at him as a squirrel did to an acorn. It was a sad sight, but some how, he would find a way around such a horrific thing.
The kit wriggled around in her grasp, almost to the point where she dropped it. Her mouth was clamped tightly around the kit, just well enough to keep a good hold. This little she-kit sure did have her mother's attitude. Honeycloud knew that she would miss Dustywing. It seemed like the two of them could have gotten closer if they just could have gotten past this. Why else would Dustywing want Honeycloud to take care of the kit?
